Support the Radboud Fund

Innovation is generated by free thinkers. They are people with courage. Scientists who come up with ideas that no one has thought of before. They dare to go off the beaten trail, taking bold turns to make the most fantastic discoveries.

The Radboud Fund exists for those people, those scientists, researchers, students, professors and doctor-researchers. Because free thinking, taking turns, taking detours, persevering until you have found that one idea that makes the world a better place, that makes people better... that takes time.

The Radboud Fund finances that time. It finances the resources needed for that. The result? Breakthroughs in cancer research, scholarships for a new generation of scientists, the world's first film of a black hole, a healing environment for sick children.

We can't do it alone. You have a part to play.

The anniversary provided the motivation for starting Radboud100, but even after the anniversary year, Radboud100 continues to be relevant. Each year, we select significant projects to which Radboud100 can contribute.   Radboud100 brings together people who want to give extra power to future-proof projects and meaningful initiatives, such as research into strengthening dikes with more varied vegetation, or creating grants that allow refugees to study in freedom. And these two projects are only the beginning. Radboud100 aims to make much more possible in the next century. Which is why we cordially invite everyone to join our close-knit network.   Which projects does Radboud100 support? Luisterschalen (Listening bowls)Collaboration with partners such as the provincial and municipal authorities gave rise to a wonderful idea that has significance for the city, its residents and its visitors: the installation of two ‘luisterschalen’ on the Lentse Warande on the Spiegelwaal. The 'luisterschalen' are so much more than a work of art. They allow people to engage in a dialogue with each other, albeit at a distance. When you speak into one listening bowl, the message will be able to be understood fifty metres away in the other listening bowl. This enables children to learn about communication in a fun way. We also organise lectures and seminars on current topics at this significant location. Using a smartphone can help you to experience even more at the 'luisterschalen'. Scanning the QR codes at the listening bowls will allow you to listen at your own convenience to podcasts on important social issues such as sustainability, culture and the history of the area. Original visual and audio clips bring these stories to life, and include, for example, videos and podcasts about Operation Market Garden and the Romans. The 'luisterschalen' help us to make the invisible visible in the Spiegelwaal area and to bring the present, past and future together. Radboud ForestPlanting of ‘Radboud Forest’ is set to start this winter: 1923 new trees will be planted along Parkzoom, which is a road that runs between the campus and Heumensoord National Reserve. The trees are part of Life Terra’s Let’s Plant Together programme, which aims to plant half a billion more trees in Europe. This makes Life Terraone of the largest climate initiatives in Europe. If you’d like to help to make Nijmegen greener, join Radboud100. The official opening of Radboud Forest is due to take place next spring and will be celebrated with its donors. Helping refugees to study in freedomTurkish national Emine Bala fled to the Netherlands with her family in 2022. She followed the Radboud Welcomes Newcomers programme and embarked on a language course so that she could learn Dutch as quickly as possible. With financial support from Radboud100, she will be starting the Master’s programme in Dutch as a Second Language at Radboud University in September. Her dream is to teach Dutch to other refugees. “This country has given me so much, and now I want to give something back.” Radboud100 is keen to help more refugees study in freedom. If you’d like to help a student refugee regain their sense of perspective, donate to Radboud100. Future Dikes; species-rich types of vegetation and a future-proof dikeIn the ‘Future Dikes’ project, we examine the way in which vegetation on the dike contributes to biodiversity and how this can better protect us from high water, which is hardly a luxury in a country where one third of the land is below sea level. Choosing plants with diverse root systems can make the dike stronger. As a result, the dikes are not only able to protect us from high water but they are also more drought-resistant. In addition to contributing to the reinforcement of the dike, the diversity of vegetation is also good for biodiversity. The dike provides a setting for rare plant and insect species. And it’s obviously a feast for the eyes! A greater understanding is required of erosion resistance, and the design, assessment and management of species-rich dikes. To put it simply, more research is needed and you can help to support this by donating to Radboud100. How does it work? When you contribute to Radboud100, you support meaningful projects together. Of course, all donations are welcome. With a donation of at least €50, you become part of Radboud100 and make a real difference together with others. Joining will give you the following benefits:- Access to a close-knit network of committed donors- Invitations to interesting lectures and special events- A real Radboud100 welcome gift- Two anniversary issues of Radboud Magazine in 2023. With a donation of €100 or more, you will receive as a gift a copy of the book 100 jaar Radboud Universiteit in 101 beelden 1923-2023 (100 Years of Radboud University in 101 Images, 1923-2023). The centenary is the reason to start Radboud100, but after this year, Radboud100 remains significant. Every year, we choose impactful projects to which Radboud100 contributes. Would you like to commit to Radboud100 for a longer period of time? Then fill in the form here. (in Dutch)

Bloemrijke dijken in het nieuws

05-06-2024 | 12:00 Posted on: Radboud100: joining forces for a better world "Bloemrijke dijken laten zien wat natuur in Nederland kán zijn.
